ASIS Saskatchewan – Everyday Security: Child Exploitation Digital Trends in Canada

March 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

Join ASIS Saskatchewan as we partner with IJM Canada’s National Director of Development for a conversation about an increasingly concerning trend affecting Canadians both here and oversees – the gut wrenching issue of child exploitation. This conversation will equip security managers with an understanding of what IJM and its partners are doing to combat this issue both globally and right here in Canada. We will understand the problem, and give common language. Philip Calvert will provide thought provoking questions for our chapter members to wrestle with in what we hope will be an impactful conversation for change.

Before attending, we would encourage you to watch Phil’s 2019 TEDx Talk – Cybersex Trafficking: Your Phone and Saving Children’s Lives (Yes, They Do Go Hand in Hand).

CONTENT ADVISORY:

While this presentation does not contain any explicit content, we acknowledge that at the heart of this important conversation are difficult topics of sexual abuse and child exploitation which may not be for everyone, and may be particularly triggering for survivors of abuse. Please use your best judgement when deciding whether you are comfortable attending this session and feel free to leave at any time to take a break if needed.

There are a lot of great organizations actively offering support for those being abused and exploited – learn more by visiting https://abuse.sk.211.ca/ this site includes direction on what to do if someone you know is currently experiencing sexual abuse.
